amenability of banach algebras

chapters 1 and 2 establish the basic theory of amenability of topological groups and amenability of banach algebras. also we prove that. if g is a topological group, then r (wluc (g)) (resp. r (luc (g))) if and only if there exists a mean m on wluc (g) (resp. luc (g)) such that for every wluc (g) (resp. every luc (g)) and every element d of a dense subset d od g, m (r)m (f) holds. chapter 3 inv...

AMENABILITY OF VECTOR VALUED GROUP ALGEBRAS

The purpose of this article is to develop the notions of amenabilityfor vector valued group algebras. We prove that L1(G, A) is approximatelyweakly amenable where A is a unital separable Banach algebra. We givenecessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of a left invariant meanon L∞(G, A∗), LUC(G, A∗), WAP(G, A∗) and C0(G, A∗).

Module cohomology group of inverse semigroup algebras

Let $S$ be an inverse semigroup and let $E$ be its subsemigroup of idempotents. In this paper we define the $n$-th module cohomology group of Banach algebras and show that the first module cohomology group $HH^1_{ell^1(E)}(ell^1(S),ell^1(S)^{(n)})$ is zero, for every odd $ninmathbb{N}$. Next, for a Clifford semigroup $S$ we show that $HH^2_{ell^1(E)}(ell^1(S),ell^1(S)^{(n)})$ is a Banach sp...

Reaping Numbers of Boolean Algebras

A subsetA of a Boolean algebra B is said to be (n,m)reaped if there is a partition of unity P ⊂ B of size n such that |{b ∈ P : b∧a 6= ∅}| ≥ m for all a ∈ A. The reaping number rn,m(B) of a Boolean algebra B is the minimum cardinality of a set A ⊂ B\ {0} such which cannot be (n,m)-reaped. It is shown that, for each n ∈ ω, there is a Boolean algebra B such that rn+1,2(B) 6= rn,2(B). Also, {rn,m(...

Maximal Sub Algebras of Group-algebras

A closed subalgebra of a Banach algebra is called maximal if it is not contained in any larger proper closed subalgebra. Let G be a discrete abelian topological group and L its group-algebra, i.e. L is the Banach algebra of functions/on G with E*e<J |/(X)| < °° and multiplication defined as convolution. What are the maximal subalgebras of L? The complete answer is not known even when G is the g...
